Diving Packages in Malaysia: Sipadan (Borneo) & Layang Layang
One of the most amazing countries of South East Asia, Malaysia has Thailand to the north and Singapore to the south. One unusual aspect of Malaysia is that it is divided into two distinct areas: peninsular Malaysia (part of mainland Asia), and East Malaysia (with the states of Sabah and Sarawak), which is situated on the second biggest island in the world: Borneo. Sipadan, in Sabah, Borneo is famous for its fantastic wall dives, many turtles (who come to Sipadan to lay their eggs, as documented by the BBC), and chances to see both pelagics and the many tiny sea animals living on the wall. Sipadan is simply charming, one of the best places we have ever dived.
The weather follows the same patterns as Thailand with two distinct rainy seasons on the east and west coasts. Langkawi, a pristine island on the northwest coast of mainland Malaysia near the Thai border, has its dry season (high season, best time for diving) from October to April. Sipadan and Layang Layang on the east coast have their dry season from April to October.
Newly emerged in the tourism industry in South East Asia, Malaysia is a pristine destination for laidback tourists and adventurers alike. The country is covered with tropical rain forest and offers great adventure possibilities in breathtaking natural scenery.
Scuba diving is a popular activity in the resort areas of East and West Malaysia as well as in the resorts on Borneo.
